Ian’s love for this beautiful and diverse land, especially the woodlands, extends from an early age growing up in and around Epping Forest. This is the basis of Bushcraft; skills that enable us to live in harmony through a greater understanding of where we find ourselves.
Ian has successfully completed a Leadership Program in Bushcraft and he is happy to be able to share the skills our forefathers relied on for survival.
Another interest close to Ian’s heart, which also follows his philosophy of working with rather than against nature, is Tai-chi. Tai-chi is more than physical movement. Through the relaxation that Tai-chi offers, the senses come alive as if waking from an unknown slumber. Tai-chi and Bushcraft enable the participant to perceptually be a part of this world. This, Ian believes should be shared and enjoyed by all.
Ian Clarke has been a Prince’s Trust youth worker, running personal development programs for 16-25 year olds. Most recently his work with a local charity for 13-14 year olds on the edge of exclusion from school has proved both challenging and rewarding for all those involved.
His teaching style is relaxed and easy, believing that the journey of learning is as important as the end result, and sharing this journey with others is what makes each day new and exciting.
