You will learn how to construct an emergency shelter, light a fire without matches, how to cook over an open fire, forage for wild food and much much more. You will be instructed in the safe use of knife, saw and axe, the essential equipment used in bushcraft survival. Simply a great day out!
The topics covered in this course may vary depending on the season. However if there is a specific area you are interested in please feel free to ask your instructor who will be happy to share their wealth of knowledge and experience with you.
Although this course is not designed as an endurance test a reasonable level of fitness is required. No previous bushcraft experience necessary.
A delightful bushcraft experience for those who would like to learn the basic techniques but do not feel ready to spend a night out in the open.
The course includes:
• An introduction to the tools and equipment of Bushcraft,
including the safe handling of axes, knives and saws.
• The survival mind, learning how to think like a survivor.
• Fire lighting using friction and other methods.
• Shelter building.
• Wild food forage and preparing wild foods.
• Wilderness cooking.

Please wear appropriate clothes as described in the kit list.
You will also need to bring:
• Knife, fork and spoon
• Mug, plate & bowl
• Water bottle
• Notebook and pencil
• And an adventurous spirit!
In keeping with the survival camp theme we will provide a cooking fire for you to prepare hot drinks and food on. We will be providing a delicious woodland lunch that the whole team can enjoy. If you have any special dietary requirements please let us know at time of booking.

Remember you will be learning in a woodland environment. It is only to be expected that you may well burn, stain or otherwise damage any equipment you bring. If you are not sure about the suitability of your kit please ask. Woodland Skills can not accept any responsibility for the condition of your kit. We regularly consider potential risks and have an outstanding safety record.
Please be aware that the nature of this course is adventurous and you may encounter the odd bump, bruise and burn (remember you will be making fire). All our staff are fully first aid trained and more than able to deal with any accidents.
